Roofs of Tripoli

Tripoli, Lebanon

A flock of pigeons flies over the roofs in Lebanon’s crowded second-largest city, Tripoli (in Arabic: Trablus) and the evening sun colors the landscape red. Growing pigeons is a common hobby in traditional Arab cities, as is the game of trying to make one’s flock attract some of the neighbor’s pigeons. Tripoli is, by general character, probably Lebanon’s most Arabian city.
